My current intentions are just to contribute some additions to User:CBM's perl framework for the MediaWiki API. I have completed and tested some changes already, and committing them via SVN seems to be the cleanest way to contribute them and make future contributions easier (which will almost certainly occur).
I created a sizable MediaWiki instance and community (formerly called LyricWiki when the project was running on my site, now the project lives on lyrics.wikia.com). This involved 3.5 years of administrating the wiki and the eventually 7 servers that it ran on. The servers ran CentOS and the infrastructure included many (all?) of the major scaling options that MediaWiki was built to work with such as master/slave database load balancing, memcached, squid caching, Lucene Search server, etc. While running this project I wrote several extensions and maintained several bots.
I do not currently have plans to run a bot on Wikimedia sites, just contribute to the framework at the moment (although this could obviously change in the future).
Thanks for your time!
